GLOSSARY OF ABBREVIATIONS AND ACRONYMS
For the purposes of this listing:
Abbreviation = An abbreviation is a short form of a word.
Acronym = An acronym is a word formed from the first letters of the words that make up the name of something, for example ‘Aids’ is an acronym for ‘acquired immune deficiency syndrome’. In other words it could be an abbreviation pronounced as a series of constituent letters, e.g., SARS = severe acute respiratory syndrome.
