How to build a regular yoga practice?

1. Your physical Limitations: Before you start yoga consider your physical limitations. While beginning yoga, it is always recommended to seek advice of your family doctor and a good yoga teacher, as the books and videos available in the market cannot provide you approachable feedback. There are factors that increase the risks while engaging in a particular activity like beginning a new fitness program or joining yoga etc. Yoga can have great therapeutic effects for a particular problem, and an experienced teacher can help you realize these benefits.
2. Choose a right teacher: Find an instructor who has deep knowledge of the subject and could train you to get the maximum benefits.
3. Be patient with the development: You won’t feel the benefits of yoga immediately. Mastering yoga takes time. So don’t just give up. Continue to practice. It takes a while before the most profound results of yoga are realized. The more you practice it the more you realize its benefits.
4. Practice Regularly – Give yoga a fair try: Yoga gives benefits to the body, mind and spirit, and this could be realized only through a regular practice. To get the maximum benefits of yoga, you should maintain a regular practice. Hence reserve some time for your yoga practice either in the morning or evening and stick to it.
5. While performing yoga as some of the poses interfere with digestion you should always start yoga with an empty stomach. Be sure to keep yourself and your living and working areas clean in order to prevent illness and disease. Your personal hygiene should be attained prior to your yoga session.
6. The essence of yoga is study of self. Hence avoid observing other students and the strong wish of impressing teacher and other students in the classroom.
