- What is NTSE Scholarship?
The purpose of NTSE (National Talent Search Examination) scheme is to identify talented students and award them scholarship to pursue their further studies and nurture them. This scheme was introduced in 1963 as “National Science Talent Search Scheme”. - Who conducts NTSE?
NTSE is organized by NCERT (National Council of Educational Research and Training) an official body of Government of India. - Who can appear this exam (Eligibility)?
> Students of Indian nationality, studying in a recognized Class X can appear for the selection process.
> Students below the age of 18 years and registered under Open Distance Learning (ODL) can also appear the exam.
> Indian Students Studying Abroad in Class X can appear (directly for Stage II NTSE Examination) this exam as well. - What is the Pattern of NTSE Exam?
> NTSE is a two- tier examination process. There are two different stages of examination.
> Stage-I examination, conducted by the States/UTs, in which the schools are located and there is no domicile restriction for appearing this exam.
> Students who qualify Stage-I, will be eligible to appear for Stage-II examination, conducted by NCERT. - What Format of Exam in detail?
Stage I examination at the State/UT level will comprise of two parts, namely (a) Mental Ability Test (MAT) (b) Language Test (LT) and (c) Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT).
Qualifying Marks:Qualifying marks for candidates from General category is 40% in each paper and for candidates from SC, ST, PH is 35% in each paper.
The pattern of stage II will be as under:

- Reservation:
15% for students belonging to the SC category, 7.5% for students belonging to the ST category and 3% for Physically Challenged Group of Students. - No. of scholarship awarded?
Every year about 1000 scholarships are awarded.
