The Prime Minister of India is the chief of government of India, and head of the Council of Ministers. He is appointed by the President to assist the council of ministers in the administration of the affairs of the executive in India. The Prime Minister is responsible for bringing proposal of legislation. He is recognized as leader of the majority party in the two Houses of the Parliament of India. The Prime Minister of India is the head of the executive branch as the Presidents position is ceremonial and it is the Prime Minister who is the head of the executive.
